As my understanding and relationship with wellness has evolved, my definition of wellness as has shifted. I am now defining wellness as an ever-evolving journey of practices to restore harmony between the external and internal environment. I say this because we as humans are not separate from the earth. Additionally, no matter how you want to see it or say it: as we heal ourselves we get to truly value the beauty of our environment and as we heal our environment, our environment heals us.

This week we observed World Health Day, which is celebrated annually on April 7th and each year draws attention to a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. This year’s theme was “Our Planet, Our Health”. As I considered the theme, I immediately thought of this TED Talk that I recently listened to by Shweta Narayan: “ It’s impossible to have healthy people on a sick planet.”
